FormPlanet partner Serena Corsinovi from Letomec has presented the project at the “Materials in Car Body Engineering virtual conference”, which took place on September 1-2, 2020.
During the Conference, Corsinovi delivered the presentation “Hydrogen absorption evaluation in PHS 2000 hot stamping process with online non-destructive method”, under the block “Detection and prevention of hydrogen embrittlement”.
Corsinovi took this opportunity to talk about FormPlanet project, and gave a general overview about the work done, the objectives, the expected impacts and the results obtained.
Among these results, LETOMEC presented the results of a laboratory study to define critical hydrogen content of aluminized boron steel grade 2000 by means of a series of diffusible hydrogen measurements performed online during hot stamping at Cassino plant (FCA) in collaboration with ArcelorMittal. Tests confirmed the possibility of hydrogen absorption monitoring during car manufacturing, by direct measurement on semi-products with easy procedure based on a robust equipment.
The “Materials in Car Body Engineering” international conference provides information on the state-of the-art related to steel, aluminium and composite applications in car body engineering as well as possible approaches for future challenges in material selection.
