The aim of the experiments using miniaturized tensile specimens was to optimize the testing procedure and specimen geometry to get reliable results, comparable to the results obtained during standard mechanical testing. The testing methodology was developed and described in details by COMTES FHT. Miniaturized tensile tests were performed on the sheet metals and real parts made of different materials such as aluminium alloys, advanced high strength steel and stainless steel delivered by the project partners. The yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, elongation and reduction in cross-sectional area were evaluated within the experiment.
