Incremental Sheet Metal Forming
Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF)
Incremental Sheet Metal Forming is an emergent forming process used to obtain 3D sheet metal parts without the need of dedicated tools.
This technology allows the manufacture of sheet metal parts through the generation of successive and small strains, until their sum achieves the desired final shape of the part. The main use for incremental sheet forming technology is the production of prototypes and short series of sheet metal parts based on aluminium, conventional steel, high-strength steel, stainless steel or titanium alloys.

Access to a central materials information management platform that includes databases of reference materials and properties and physical and virtual data from European test centres.
Material traceability
Material traceability for product certification and quality label
Product certification without the active participation of a certification engineer thanks to the use of data validated by Formplanet’s network of laboratories.

Consulting
Based on the knowledge and data generated during the FormPlanet project, the Test Bed will develop complementary solutions to the innovative services.
FormPlanet consulting services will include development of market studies and cost-benefit analyses; design of financing plans for SMEs; provision of objectivity and expert evaluation for consultation actions (regulation and standardization), and identification of optimal, best-for-value and competitive advantage solutions among others.
Training and knowledge
Tailored-made training services
One of the main challenges the industry is facing is the difficulty to train new staff and integrate such knowledge to the existing personnel. The Test Bed offers specific and tailored-made training for potential clients delivered through virtual platforms or face-to-face training programmes.
Some of the organisations involved in the FormPlanet Test Bed are Universities, R&D Organisations, and SMEs with a very active role in the promotion of specialised training for experts in the different characterisation methodologies and other complementary services.
